FAQ: How to print a custom sized form
Problem: I am trying to print a custom sized form (example was 80 columns by 22 lines).
Answer: The closest thing that Windows 3.1+ has to forms printing is custom paper sizes. If your print driver supports custom paper sizes, we recommend that you use it.
One of our clients did the following in Windows 95 that may work in Windows 3.1:
- Add a printer; Use a descriptive name, maybe something that matches the form.
- Open the new printer's Properties. In the "Paper" tab, choose "Custom" for the paper size and type the width and height of your paper.
- In RPM, choose "Edit Queues" from the "Queues" menu. Press the "Printer Setup" button and choose the new printer created in step 1.
NOTE: Our research has shown that some print drivers support this and some do not. You will need to experiment with your printer to see what gives you satisfactory results. It might also be useful to use a compatible print driver from the Windows CD, as these drivers are typically compatible with these types of uses.
