FAQ: Migrate RPM 9x to RPM Select
Question: I am upgrading RPM 9x to RPM Select. How do I migrate the queue configuration for use on RPM Select or RPM Elite?
Answer: RPM's configuration for both RPM 9x and RPM Elite/Select are stored in the Windows Registry. They are stored in different keys. Follow these steps:
- On the Windows 95, 98, or Millennium Edition computer, close RPM. Then open the Registry Editor. To do this, choose Run from the Windows Start menu, type regedit.exe and press OK.
- Locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Brooks Internet Software\RPM.
- Right-click the above RPM key and choose Rename. The new name should be RPMPro.
- Now, choose Export Registry File from the Registry menu. Choose a location to save the file in and choose a filename (i.e. rpm9xcfg.reg).
- Rename the key back to RPM. RPM 9x can now be restarted if necessary.
The file you exported in step 4 above can now be imported in RPM Select or RPM Elite. To do so, choose Import from the File menu in RPM, locate the rpm9xcfg.reg file, and press Open. The configuration will be imported. If you have existing queues in RPM Select or RPM Elite with the same name, the configuration will be updated. If you have other queues, they will not be modified.
