FAQ: A PostScript error prints instead of the document
Problem: I am trying to print to a PostScript printer. Instead of printing the document, an error prints out on the paper. This error is usually "offending command: <message>, where <message> is the text of the error message.
Solution: This is a setting in the print driver properties for most PostScript printers.
- Press Start-->Settings. Click "Printers".
- Right-click on the printer and choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
- Windows 9x users: In the "PostScript" tab, uncheck "Print postscript error information".
Windows 2000 users: In the "General" tab, press the "Printing Preferences" button, then the "Advanced" button. Choose "No" for "Send postscript error handler" under the "PostScript Options" section.
Windows NT users: Windows NT PostScript drivers do not have this option. You may try the following steps in RPM:- Right-click this link and choose "Save target as". Then save it to a file on your system.
- Open Queues\Edit Queues\Print Data Options. In the "Insert" tab, choose "Insert file". Press "Browse" and locate the file you saved in the first step.
- Press OK\Apply\OK\OK.
- Press OK.
This should correct this problem. If the problem persists, or the document does not print properly, try using a different PostScript driver found on the Windows CD-ROM.
