FAQ: Winsock error 10047

Problem:

When I run RPM on Windows 95 or NT 3.51, I get this error.

This error is generated only because of incorrect network settings in Windows 9x. You need to check the following information:

Make sure you...

  • have "Client for Microsoft Networks"
  • install the Microsoft version of "TCP/IP"
  • you're logged in and have a current IP address. You can use "winipcfg" from the Start\Run command.
  • test other network applications for proper operability
