Problem:
I am using a Hewlett Packard DeskJet 700, 800, or 1000 series printer. My RPM Remote Print Manager® raw queue does not seem to be sending the data correctly. What can I do to fix this?
Solution:
These printers use the printer language developed by HP called PPA, performance printing architecture. We do not know of any current mainframe, UNIX, or AS/400 LPR that can emulate this architecture. RPM raw queues do not use the print driver, so therefore, these printer codes are not being added by the Windows print driver for your HP printer.
The only way to print to these types of printers currently is to use a text queue in RPM. When you use a text queue, RPM sends the data through the print driver to be formatted for your printer which adds these codes via the Windows print driver. Unless or until this printer language becomes more common, the LPRs will not emulate these printers. To use a text queue, select "Edit Queues" from the "Queues" menu in RPM and choose the middle queue type: "Print Text, allows font selections, page setup".
