RPM doesn't use the selected printer properties

Question:

When I change my printer properties in RPM, they aren't used. I've tried to select a different tray, and also a different orientation, but neither seems to work properly. Am I doing something wrong?

Answer:

If you are using a text type queue in RPM, these settings should all work just fine, as long as you have the correct driver loaded for the printer.

If you are using a raw type queue, these settings make no difference. RPM's raw queues send the data straight through to the printer without changing the file at all, including adding appropriate printer codes. This is the desired behavior and there is no way to make these settings work with this queue type. If you need to use this type of queue, you will need to configure your sending (LPR) system to format the data accordingly before RPM ever gets the data.
