NT multi-user configuration problem

Problem:

I am running RPM Remote Print Manager™ on an NT machine. I want to be able to give multiple users the ability to use RPM as they log on to the domain. Is there a better way?

Answer:

First, sign on as "Administrator". You will need to be able to create a group and give access to this group during the configuration. This FAQ should apply mainly (if not only) to computers running Windows NT Workstation with an NTFS filesystem or an NT server, which can only be installed on an NTFS filesystem. Otherwise, everyone will already have the access permissions they need to the registry keys and directorys!

  1. Create a Group called RPM and add the users that need to use RPM.
  2. From the 'Start' menu, choose 'Run'. Type REGEDT32 and press OK.
  3. Go to HKey_Local _Machine\Software\Brooks Internet Software
  4. Select 'Permissions' from the 'Security' menu.
  5. Add the RPM group that you created, give this group 'Full Control' access, and check the Replace Permissions on Subkeys box.
  6. Close REGEDT32
  7. Now, start the Windows Explorer
  8. Open the 'Program Files' folder.
  9. Right-click on the 'Brooks Internet Software' folder and choose 'Properties'.
  10. Go to the 'Security' tab and press the 'Permissions' button.
  11. Add the RPM group you created, give this group 'Full Control', and check 'Replace Permissions on Sub Directories' and 'Replace Permissions on Files'.
  12. Press 'Apply'.
