How do I upgrade?

Problem:

I would like to upgrade from one version of RPM 4.5 to a newer version, such as 4.5.1.9 to 4.5.1.11.

Answer:

The upgrade consists of uninstalling your current version and reinstalling the latest version. Once finished, you simply unlock the software again.

The upgrade is simple and quickly accomplished. Follow these steps:

  1. Verify you have the unlock key and support expiration date if you performed a manual unlock, or that you have the order number and authentication code if you originally used the web unlock process. If not, please contact us for further information.
  2. Verify that your Software Upgrade Maintenance (SUM) is current, or was current at release date of the software you are installing. You can verify this in the Brooks License Manager if you have RPM 4.5.0.1 or later.
  3. Download the newest version of the software from our website.
  4. Uninstall RPM using the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel or by executing the setup program downloaded in the previous step.

Note: If you have Windows XP service pack 2 installed, an error message will occur during uninstallation. This error can safely be ignored; simply press Ok to the error message.

  5. Click Ignore to any warning stating that the installation folder could not be removed. If you delete this folder manually, your configuration will be lost.
  6. Install RPM by executing the install program downloaded from our website.
  7. Open the Brooks License Manager from the Program group in the Start menu.
  8. Unlock the software using the same method as was originally used. For instance, if you used the web unlock process originally, do so again using the same order number and authentication code.
