AS/400 - Setup and Configuration Instructions
To configure an IBM AS/400 to successfully print to RPM Remote Print Manager®, you need to create a remote OUTQ on the AS/400. For these instructions, RPM has already been installed on a PC with IP address 192.168.1.35. Also, we will be using an HP Laserjet 4 printer. If you do not already know your IP address, contact your system administrator for your information.

Create AS/400 OUTQ
Creating a Queue in RPM
- Open the RPM user interface and choose New Queue from the Queues menu.
- Enter the name of the queue you wish to create and press the OK button. The Edit Queues dialog will be displayed.

- From the list of Queue Types, choose Pass data directly to the printer (raw). *

- Press the Printer Setup button. In the Print Setup dialog, choose a printer from the list of available printers. Press the OK button.

- In the Edit Queues dialog, press the Queue Setup button. Select Translate LF to CR/LF and press the OK button.

- Press the OK button to accept the changes and dismiss the Edit Queues dialog.
Note: Choose a queue type consistant with your requirements. You can try both the Text and Filter queue types. All three types perform specific actions. To learn more about the different types of queues, click here.
Note: If the AS/400 does not emulate your printer type, you may need to use a "text" type queue in RPM.
Creating a remote OUTQ on the AS/400
- From the AS/400 command prompt, issue the command CRTOUTQ. Press F4
- The first parameter is the name of the OUTQ you wish to create. This name is not required to be identical to the name of the RPM queue. The Remote Printer Queue name is where you enter the RPM queue name.

- Now, press F24, then F9 to display all parameters. The first screen should have the following parameters set. The "Internet address" parameter will be the IP address of the PC that has RPM installed.

- When all of these parameters are set correctly, press the Page-Down button to view the next screen. It should have the parameters set as follows.
Note: The "Destination options" parameter is important. 'XAUTOQ' is not available if you have OS/400 V3R6. If you have this version, simply use 'XAIX'.
- When you are done with that screen, Page-Down again and set the following parameters.

This is a basic set of instructions for configuring the AS/400 for printing to RPM. Your settings may differ depending on what you are trying to accomplish. The important parameters to make sure of are `Authority to Check and `Destination Options.
Congratulations. Your AS/400 is now configured to print to RPM.
