Announcing ExcelliPrint 5.0

ExcelliPrint 5.0
Idaho Falls, Idaho — October 23, 2026. Brooks Internet Software has released ExcelliPrint® 5.0, a new version of its IPDS printing software for Windows. To an IBM i or z/OS host, ExcelliPrint still looks like an IPDS printer; version 5.0 rebuilds the program around three things our customers asked for — security, reliability, and faithful rendering — and makes every feature part of every license.
If you last looked at ExcelliPrint a few years ago, this is a good time to look again. Version 5.0 is not a patch on the old product. It is a new program, written for 64-bit Windows.
A Windows program in place of the web interface
Earlier versions ran as a service with a browser-based admin interface. ExcelliPrint 5.0 is a native Windows application: queues, jobs, and the log are in one window. There is no web server, browser login, or SSL certificate to stand up and maintain. Only Windows administrators can change settings; other users can view them. For anyone who has had a security scan flag an embedded web server, that whole category of finding is simply gone.
One rendering engine for every format
PDF, TIFF, PostScript, PCL6, and printed output are now drawn by the same engine. A job looks the same in every format, and saving it as a PDF shows exactly what the printer would print. The 5.0 release also adds the formats and controls customers have asked for:
- PDF/A-2b for archiving, plus PDF passwords and permissions
- PCL6 (PCL XL) and PostScript level 2 or 3
- TIFF resolution and color control
- Tray and output-bin mapping for Windows printers
- Stored credentials and font mapping
Security and reliability
ExcelliPrint 5.0 accepts work only from the hosts and the people you choose, and it accounts for every job with a clear outcome — delivered, saved, printed, or stopped with a reason — so nothing silently disappears. These were the two most common things customers told us they needed to trust an unattended print path.
One edition, every feature
There are no longer Premium and Standard editions. Every ExcelliPrint license now includes every feature.
