4.2.0.80 on 2026-11-06

INTELLIscribe 4.2 brings INTELLIscribe up to date for current Windows, adds encrypted printing, and locks down the service. Ports, destinations and policies work as before, and an upgrade keeps them, along with your settings, job history and license: run the new setup over the installed version.

  • 64-bit, for Windows 10 and 11 and Windows Server 2016 and later. Earlier and 32-bit versions of Windows are no longer supported
  • LPD over TLS: LPD destinations can encrypt each job with TLS 1.2 or 1.3, on the destination’s usual port (515), and can trust a server by its certificate fingerprint. Use it with servers that support LPD over TLS, such as RPM Remote Print Manager 7
  • More secure: the INTELLIscribe service runs under its own low-privilege account instead of LocalSystem, accepts no connections from the network, and only administrators can change the configuration. Job files, logs and the job database are kept under ProgramData, where only the service and administrators can change them; an upgrade moves them there
  • Faster with large job histories: the job list loads tens of thousands of jobs in seconds, the log opens at once however long it is, and many jobs can be deleted, canceled or reprinted together
  • Printers travel with the configuration: File > Export Configuration saves the Windows printers on INTELLIscribe ports along with the ports, and Import Configuration creates them again. An export can also be written as a PowerShell script that recreates the configuration
  • A PowerShell module creates ports, destinations and printers, and exports and imports the configuration
  • The status bar shows whether the INTELLIscribe service is running and the license status, and updates as soon as either changes
  • Job Properties shows a job’s details in groups, and copies them to the clipboard
  • Check for Updates on the Help menu, and when INTELLIscribe starts, tells you when a newer version is available
  • A new manual: Help > Manual opens the INTELLIscribe 4.2 manual (PDF), which replaces the old help file
  • Adding an INTELLIscribe port from Windows’ Add Printer wizard selects the new port and carries on with the printer
  • Opening INTELLIscribe when it’s already open brings its window forward instead of starting another copy
  • The log says why a job, a TLS connection or the license failed, in plain terms
  • No longer included: the system tray icon, the splash screen, and the import of registry-format (.reg) configuration files from versions before 3.0
