About Brooks Internet Software, Inc.
Founded in 1995, Brooks develops TCP/IP network printing solutions that allow Windows-based computers to print to and receive data from non-Windows computers
Our primary offering is RPM Remote Print Manager® for receiving host print requests and performing client operations on that print data, that is, you and local to your computer.
Our Customers
Many corporate websites include a long list of well-known customers. We don’t, and not by choice: most of our customers have asked us not to identify them, because appearing on a vendor’s website opens the door to competitors begging them to take a look at something else.
So instead of a logo wall, here is the actual shape of it.
In the last five years alone we have shipped orders to customers in 60 countries. Just over a quarter of them are outside the United States; Canada alone accounts for more customers than any other country after the US, and Europe is the largest international region. Most of the major printer vendors call us directly, and many refer clients to us.
By sector, heaviest first:
- Financial services — the largest single concentration: community and regional banks, credit unions, and mortgage and lending companies. One credit union captures digital signatures; another manages member receipts.
- Insurance — property & casualty, life, workers’ compensation and specialty insurers, domestic and international. An aircraft insurer emails invoices and underwriting reports automatically.
- Healthcare — small community hospitals through large multi-facility regional systems. Patient-record processing and host-driven label printing.
- Government — federal agencies, state departments, and county and city governments, in the US and abroad; Canada, Ireland and Australia among them. One federal agency turns mainframe output into PDFs, routed by what is inside the document.
- Higher education — universities and community colleges across many states.
- Manufacturing & industrial — tooling, fasteners, electronic components, textiles and packaging producers.
- Document, print & imaging services — companies whose core business is document processing, printing or imaging. A natural fit, and a recurring one: MiNET and The Stewart Organization.
- Automotive & transportation — vehicle manufacturers, trucking and logistics operations, including auto parts distribution with ADC.
- Utilities & municipal services — electric, water and other public utility providers.
- Law enforcement & public safety — including a distinct concentration of Canadian police services.
Through RPM’s first fifteen years that list ran deep into the Fortune 1000: 273 of them by 2010, including 9 of the top 10, along with all of the major US broadcast networks. Most of those environments have since standardized on large integrated output-management suites, a product category that did not exist when RPM shipped in 1995. Our customer base today is broader and less concentrated, spread across the industries above rather than resting on a handful of very large accounts.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to being the internet-based printing solution community leader by developing and publishing exceptional printing software. Our primary goal is to create high-quality, cost-effective, easy-to-use, TCP/IP network printing products for our customers and provide the best service and support possible. To achieve this goal, we must meet the following conditions:
- Customers must be able to find our solutions on the Internet easily
- Customers must be able to install, use, and receive support, if needed, on trial versions of our software
- Customers must be able to identify a clear Return on Investment (ROI) by purchasing our software
Our History
Founded in 1995 by Dave Brooks, Brooks Internet Software was one of the first internet-based companies in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Idaho Falls is located among the Rocky Mountains in the Snake River Plain of southeast Idaho. The area is a world-famous outdoor playground, only a few hours from Yellowstone National Park; Jackson Hole, WY, and Teton National Park; Sun Valley, ID; Salt Lake City, UT; Boise, ID; several national forests; and other scenic areas.
Dave, a long-time resident of Alaska who came to Idaho as a software engineer, wanted to create a high-tech company where employees could use and embrace new technologies even though those technologies, at the time, were still being proven. His vision, expertise, and talent for great software have led the company to where it is today.
Our Philosophy
When Dave Brooks founded Brooks Internet Software, he wanted to create a company where employees would be proud to. Years later, this philosophy is still the driving force behind the way we do business. Brooks Internet Software strives to maintain the highest business ethics and integrity while embodying some simple principles that express our corporate values. Those simple principles include:
- Always take care of the customer first
- Work smart and work hard
- Maintain professional and courteous relationships with others
- Do what is best for the company
- Take the initiative in your work and be happy
Our commitment to these values creates a focused and positive atmosphere for our employees.
Our Software
Our software products employ the same philosophies as the company itself:
- Meet real customer needs
- Embrace technologies that solve actual problems rather than technologies being marketed as “cool” by the industry
- Find ways to help the customer in his or her work
Our print server products embrace compatibility with both client platforms and the Windows print environment. Our print client software raises the user’s print experience to a new level by offering easy reprint and multiple destinations printing. All our software is designed to work unobtrusively, behind the scenes.
Our Service
We back our software with outstanding service. The corporate philosophy is also ingrained in how we service our customers: always take care of the customer first and maintain professional and courteous relationships with others. Everyone at Brooks understands the importance of building and maintaining these relationships, and many of whom have prospered since 1995. Our employees are talented, well-trained, and dedicated professionals who take pride in servicing any potential or current customer who contacts our office.
Our Support
In addition to outstanding service, our software is backed by exceptional technical support. Our Online Support Libraries include:
- FAQs by either issue or topic
- Product setup
- Systems setup
- Software manuals
All these materials are available to customers 24/7 on our website. For customers who maintain current Software Upgrade & Maintenance (SUM), we offer email and telephone support during our regular office hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST) and by appointment. Our commitment to responding to customers within 48 business hours is usually far exceeded as our technicians often respond within minutes. Our technicians are proud of their knowledge and are motivated to learn about and resolve the next customer’s problem. Through customer emails from impressed technical industry types, we are constantly reminded that our technical staff is simply the best.
Security & Compliance
Data Protection Architecture
Brooks Internet Software’s architecture is designed with security at its foundation. Our solutions process print management locally at customer sites - we do not store, transmit, or custody customer data on Brooks’ servers. This architecture minimizes data exposure and simplifies compliance requirements for our customers.
Security Framework Compliance
We maintain security controls aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and complete annual security assessments. Our team has deep experience with information security practices, including backgrounds in federal (defense) contracting environments where security discipline is foundational.
Enterprise Certification
As customer requirements evolve, we’re prepared to pursue formal third-party certifications, including SOC 2 and ISO 27001. We work directly with enterprise customers to understand their specific security and compliance needs.
