Complimentary Software Alliance to Target AS/400 Market

Redwood Software and Brooks Internet Software Announce AS/400 Software Alliance

Raleigh, N.C. and Idaho Falls, ID - October 10, 2000 - Redwood Software, Inc., a leading provider of software and solutions that extend the power of enterprise applications to eBusiness, today announced a complimentary software alliance with Brooks Internet Software, Inc. (Brooks), a leader in TCP/IP network printing software. The alliance leverages the strength of Redwood's Report2Web™ enterprise report portal and the connectivity and integration features of Brooks' RPM Remote Print Manager® Elite (RPM Elite) to create more comprehensive reporting solutions for AS/400 environments, enhancing the AS/400 printing experience.

Automated Web Publishing and Report Distribution

Report2Web collects reports from any system within the enterprise, catalogs them in a secure report repository and distributes the information to authorized end-users through standard Web browser software. Report2Web customers can now use RPM Elite to automate the Web publishing and distribution of reports generated on the AS/400 and other systems.

Enhanced AS/400 Connectivity

RPM Remote Print Manager (RPM) provides connectivity to AS/400 printing systems and now has comprehensive integration with Report2Web. RPM has been part of the AS/400 market for five years where it has continued to support standard AS/400 and mainframe data formats and offers extensive formatting and Windows 2000 printing features. Report2Web uses RPM as a means to seamlessly intercept print streams from the AS/400 and route them to Windows 2000- or NT-based Report2Web servers for distribution through the enterprise report portal.

"Brooks continually creates innovative applications for RPM Remote Print Manager by integrating its extensive connectivity and print functions with other vendors' products," said Dave Brooks, president of Brooks Internet Software, Inc. "Redwood Software and Brooks have developed a unique approach which further enhances RPM's standing in the AS/400 market while providing Report2Web customers with a full-service solution for their report distribution needs."

"Report2Web has a fast-growing customer base with increasingly diverse back-end systems including mainframes, UNIX, and AS/400s," said Jerry Levin, vice president of worldwide marketing for Redwood Software, Inc. "This alliance with Brooks provides the framework to increase our presence in the midrange systems market by making it easier for Report2Web customers to access the information produced on AS/400s and securely distribute it to employees, partners, and customers."
